2006-11-16 [Just.Kate]: =/ I'll see what I can do.
2006-11-16 [Just.Kate]: Alright. I got something that I can work with. :)
2006-11-16 [Teufelsweib]: [Just.Kate], so that you know: your images aren't completely transparent. since they are .png they have a purple background for certain internet servers like Internet Explorer.
2006-11-16 [iippo]: Internet browsers, not servers. But [Teufelsweib] is right, they are not transparent for me.
(And no I can't get any other kind of browser (like Firefox) since I only use public computers, like the ones in my university computer suites -_-)
2006-11-16 [Calico Tiger]: I'm torn between comforting you for having to use IE (or any other sub-browser), and pointing and laughing ;) I'll compromise with a comforting hug while I snicker >:) I wonder what Microsoft has against .png files. They should convert to being able to see them :O
2006-11-16 [True, plain and simple]: Well, IE7 seems to support PNG transparency fine, actually. :P
2006-11-16 [Just.Kate]: :( Cannot upgrade to IE7? I might have to change em to gifs.
2006-11-17 [Ilana]: Internet Explorer is generally sucky. The pngs work fine in my browser (Safari).
2006-11-17 [xido]: I thought about making another one for treasure, and one for dice rolling, but I think I'm done for now. ;)
What do you think?

2006-11-17 [Just.Kate]: All set on Halloween!
2006-11-18 [Sunrose]: [lyubomir], could you separate your entries into the given themes a bit more clearly? It will make things easier later on :)
2006-11-19 [Just.Kate]: Ooo I like [Elegy - gone]'s!
2006-11-19 [Elegy - gone]: Thank you ^_^
2006-11-19 [xido]: I agree, very cute ;)
2006-11-19 [Teufelsweib]: I only know that png.'s are forbidden on the elftown graphics because they aren't transparent.
I hope that they'll do the same to contests, since it's easier to change those images to gif. instead of letting everyone that has IE download some other internet browser.
2006-11-19 [lyubomir]: ...better now ?
2006-11-19 [True, plain and simple]: It's better that everyone who has IE just to upgrade to IE7 if at all possible, than to force some restrictions like that. Only some 63% of users use IE6 or below on Elftown now, so that's showing positive change.
2006-11-19 [Teufelsweib]: like [iippo] said, some have to use public computers on which you can't upgrade it.
I am myself half of the time on the laptop of my father, who doesn't want me to download or upload stuff like that.
in that case it's better to enforce such a restriction, since some people just can't get a better browser than IE.
2006-11-19 [iippo]: Yeah. I mean, I'd agree with "lets ignore people with crappy browsers" if it wasn't the case of the pretty much biggest and most common browser around, as IE just happens to be. After a time when most people have IE 7 that'd be fair, but 63% is the majority.
In the case of this contest I'm not that fust since it just looks like the mood icon has a fugly coloured bg, and I probably wouldn't vote for it. As long as people are aware of the fact that their "transparent" images don't look that hot to us "lesser" people (who are the majority.. >_> *cough*). As long as it's a conscious choice by the user to make transparent png's even though it's exclusive, I don't mind, I say let it be in the contest.
2006-11-19 [True, plain and simple]: IE7 is a high priority update for Windows, so the public places that have it still have it because the people in charge of those systems are just too lazy to learn how to make it behave the same, I think. ;)
As long as it's a conscious choice by the user to make transparent png's even though it's exclusive, I don't mind, I say let it be in the contest.
That's essentially what I meant, jah. I just don't want to limit people because there are some non-working browsers out there. That doesn't mean that I don't think those people should have a good viewing experience too, but of course they'll accommodate themselves by picking images that look OK to themselves anyway.
